What We Do
Postpartum Midwifery
A Registered Midwife will care for you and your babe(s) during the first six weeks after your birth. After you go home, we will do an average of 4-6 visits in the comfort of your home! We will stay on call for you and your baby 24/7 for any emergencies that come up during that time.
*Please note I DO NOT provide prenatal or birth care.

Primary Care Providers
Midwives are primary care providers. That means we will provide all the care you and babe(s) need in those first 6 weeks. If you are lucky enough to have a General Practitioner (GP/aka Family doctor) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), you won't see them for anything birth related until you leave midwifery care when baby is 6 weeks old. At that I will fax them with a Discharge Summary to facilitate a smooth transfer of you and babe back into their care (and email you a copy too).

Can I See My GP/NP AND A Midwife?
No, that would be a duplication of care (and double billing MSP). You can see one or the other. The only time you may see your GP or NP while in midwifery care would be if you have a concern unrelated to birth (e.g. thyroid management or asthma) or something outside of midwifery scope (e.g. medications for postpartum depression).

What if a Complication Arises?
Midwives can consult a variety of specialists from Pediatricians to Psychiatrists, Cardiologists to Hematologists.
